    Roles & Responsibilities

    The Chemist will assist in the day-to-day running of the laboratory for gold testing.

    Reports To

    Senior Chemist / Managing Director

    Job Requirements

    • At least 4 years lab work experience with at least 3 years as a Fire Assayer.
    • Demonstrated understanding of the analytical processes in Fire Assay and the minerals analysis process.
    • Minimum Polytechnic Diploma qualification in Chemistry or its related field.
    • Able to work independently in Gold Testing.
    • Problem solving skills.

    Primary Job Duties

    • Testing of Gold and other precious metals and scraps through cupellation method (fire assaying).
    • Procurement and placement of all consumables, equipment and fixtures.
    • Responsible for Budgeting and Forecasting related expenses for Fire Assay.
    • Preparation of chemical reagents.
    • Testing of routine samples and analysis of test data.
    • Troubleshooting of analysis methods.
    • General maintenance of equipment and housekeeping of the Laboratory.
    • Smelting of precious metals as and when required.
    • Drive precious metals recovery.
    • Create Stand Operations Procedure for Gold Testing and recovery.
    • Resolve all gold testing related issues.

    Secondary Job Duties

    • Training & Retention of the Fire Assay team.
    • Any other ad-hoc tasks assigned by the management.
